Computer Upgrades
The latest versions of Microsoft Windows require faster processors, larger hard drives and more memory than past versions, such as Windows XP.
Black River PC can evaluate your current system and recommend cost-effective upgrades to maximize overall system performance. If the system is simply too old to benefit from available upgrade options, we won't try to sell you something that won't make much, if any, difference. Sometimes the best upgrade is an entire new computer.
- Hard drive upgrades - Upgrade your existing hard drive to a new, larger and faster drive; or simply add an additional drive, just for storage.
- Memory (RAM) upgrades - We recommend at least 1 GB memory for Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux, and 2 GB memory for Windows Vista or Windows 7. If you have less, you may not be getting all the performance you could get out of your computer. Memory-intensive tasks, such as multimedia editing, 3D modeling, CAD and gaming need even more.
- Processor (CPU) upgrades - If your computer has a slower processor, such as an Intel Celeron or AMD Sempron, or an older single-core processor, a processor upgrade could significantly improve performance of the system. Many systems can handle a processor upgrade, and we can determine compatibility and offer the best, most cost-effective options.
- Windows upgrades - Depending on how old your computer is and what its configuration is, a Windows upgrade may require more than just the upgrade of Windows. Windows Vista and Windows 7 have significantly higher minimum hardware requirements than Windows XP or Windows 2000. We can ensure your older system is up to the challenge of running the newest versions of Windows so you aren't disappointed in how it performs after the Windows upgrade.
- Microsoft Office upgrades - The latest versions of Microsoft Office feature a new and improved user interface for increased productivity.
